Cisplatin, Pemetrexed And Bevacizumab In Case Of Untreated Malignant Mesothelioma
Cisplatin, Pemetrexed and Bevacizumab for Untreated Malignant Mesothelioma is an active phase II trial with the protocol IDs AVF3442S and NCT00295503.
The trial is open for participants of ages 18 years and above. Malignant Mesothelioma patients with histological proof of the disease who have not experienced any good effect from a curative surgery or radiotherapy are included. The sites of origin of the disease must be pleura, tunica vaginalis and peritoneum. The spread of the disease should be enough for measurement. Adequate organ function is also a necessity so that the drugs can be excreted out of the system.
There are certain exclusion criteria too. Pregnant and lactating mothers and those patients with a secondary malignancy are non-eligible for this trial. But if the second malignancy has a less than 30 % chance of relapse then the patient might be admitted. HIV positive patients receiving combination anti- retro- viral therapy are excluded from this trial. The trial also does not include patients with brain metastases and those with Bevacizumab-Specific Concerns. Since Bevacizumab is an active component of this trail so patients having allergic reactions to this chemical or to other chemicals similar in nature should not be allowed to participate in the trial process.
The purpose of this trial is to determine the time to progression of cancer using cisplatin, pemetrexed and bevacizumab in case of patients who have not received a prior treatment of Malignant Mesothelioma. The secondary objectives include the determination of the overall survival and the objective response rate. The correlative science data aims to determine any interrelation between objective response and tumor expression of VEGF/KDR complex and/or the presence of sv40.
